Kerala Tour Packages: 3 to 8 Day Itinerary Ideas
Classic Kerala tour routes from 3 to 8 days, combining the Munnar hills, Thekkady wildlife, an Alleppey houseboat, Fort Kochi and Kovalam beach.
Kerala is compact, but road times through the hills are long. These routes are the ones our guests book most, with realistic drive times.
3 days: Munnar + Alleppey
Cochin → Munnar (4 hours) for tea gardens and Eravikulam, then down to Alleppey for an overnight houseboat, and back to Cochin. The shortest trip that covers hills and backwaters.
4 days: Munnar + Alleppey, slower
Two nights in Munnar give you a full sightseeing day — Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, the Tea Museum — before the houseboat.
5–6 days: Munnar, Thekkady & Alleppey
Add Thekkady between the hills and the backwaters for Periyar Lake boating, a spice plantation walk and a Kathakali show. The 6-day version adds Fort Kochi at the end.
8 days: Grand Kerala with Kovalam
After the houseboat, continue south to Kovalam for the beach, a day trip to Kanyakumari at the tip of India and Trivandrum sightseeing before flying home.
Tips for planning
- Fly into Cochin (COK) and out of Trivandrum (TRV) on longer routes
- October to March is the most comfortable season; monsoon brings the lowest prices
- Book the houseboat night first — it is the part that sells out
